How often should my child be meeting with the speech therapist?

After you meet with your lovely speech therapist and a thorough communication assessment has been completed, your therapist may recommend therapy to help your child achieve their communication goals.

Whilst we want to give you and your child the best possible outcomes, therapy and the frequency of therapy will look different to every child that we see. Your therapist will make recommendations for your child based on their individual nature, age and the goals that have been made.

When it comes to the frequency of therapy, most evidence-based therapy approaches recommend meeting with your speech therapist weekly. Some programs will even recommend meeting with your therapist 2, or even 3 times per week.

When it all comes down to it, we know that regular and consistent therapy as well as being supported with 5-10 minutes of home practice each day is the best way for your child to reach their goals.
